Broadway Golf Club, situated 850 feet above sea level on the edge of the Cotswolds escarpment, commands outstanding views over the neighbouring villages and beyond them to Bredon Hill to the west, the Malvern Hills and Meon Hil to the east.
The club was established in 1895 and the present golf course started in 1910. Although not championship length at only 6200 yards and par 72, it does provide a good test of golf for all abilities, and has an inland links feel due to the rolling fairways and undulating greens.
The small contour greens demand a well-placed and accurate shot, and even if you reach them in regulation figures, a par is by no means a certainty. The elements as with any links course play an important role in effecting your score and Broadway on a breezy day can be a tough challenge.
There are three very good par 3's with characters of their own, but the 5th stands out for many golfers as our signature hole; the hole was designed by Dr Alistair Mckenzie of Augusta fame in the 1920's. Course architecture is credited to James Braid who was mainly responsible 1st hole and the back nine. Mckenzie and Tim Simpson carried some of the work out during the 1920's.
The course, rated in the top twenty in the South West and is kept in excellent all round condition by the Course Manager, Cedric Gough, and his team of experienced greens staff.
The Clubhouse further enhances the Golfers experience, Broadway being the proud winner in 2007 of the Golf World, Whyte & Mackay "19th Hole of the Year" award.
