Haslemere Table Tennis Club's aim is to promote a sport which probably everyone has played at some stage in their lives! To provide facilities for both social and casual play, and local league matches for the more competitive. To improve standards using the club's own qualified coaches and teachers and the ball-firing robot! Age range 8+ to 80's.
Being an indoor and mainly winter sport, played September to April, many 'summer sport' enthusiasts find table tennis an ideal form of winter exercise. A number of club members are keen tennis, badminton or squash players and find table tennis sharpens their reactions.
The club meets at The Edge Sports Centre, Woolmer Hill on a Tuesday evening (7.30 pm to 10 pm) and can accommodate up to twelve match play and practice tables at the same venue. Interested in developing links to promote table tennis in local schools, youth clubs, church or village halls! Advice and help availble with tables, equipment, lighting and coaching.
Membership is available by Annual Subscription which provides free playing facilities every Tuesday during the season, and also free coaching. Non members and their freinds are welcome on any Tuesday after 7.30 pm for £3.00 per person.
The Club restarts on Tuesday 7th September 2010 and will operate every Tuesday through to April 2011.
Coaching for all standards is available as follows from the Club's coaches - two qualified to ETTA Level 2 and one to ETTA Level 3:
- For individual 30 minute sessions most Tuesdays - £5 per person (includes free to play rest of evening). Must be booked in advance, or on the night if slots available. Members FOC. Contact Andy Clegg 01428 723340.
- For individual or small group (max 3) coaching - £10 to £15 per hour inclusive of hall hire. Contact: Noel Fairbairn 01428 653174.
- For coaching at other table tennis clubs, other premises or using the ball robot machine, please speak to Andy or Noel.
Teams are entered in the Haslemere and District League which offers matches and tournaments. New players, whether experienced or complete beginners are always welcome.
