The University of Nottingham Archery Club has been representing the University in the age old sport of archery for many years. We welcome new members of any skill level and aim to bring new faces into the sport as well as show you how much fun the club is. We shoot competatively but many members join to have fun, which is also one of the goals of the club so even if you only want to turn up to have a break from studying you are welcome.
For new members to the sport we provide all of the equipment and coaching necessary for you to start shooting at a safe level, whether you want to shoot for fun or become a serious archer. For those who may already have some experience you can join the club and receive further coaching and compete in a new area of the sport.During Autumn-Winter we shoot most Wednesdays from 2pm-5pm and on Sundays between 10am-1pm at the University Park Sports Centre. During the Summer term we also shoot outdoors when it is sunny enough.
For those looking to take the sport more seriously we compete in a number of local and national competitions and tournaments across the country, which members of the club may be entered into if they feel like representing the University. Archery is currently one of the only sports clubs to give novices a chance to compete at tournaments separately to experienced members as we have a separate novice team made entirely of new members to the sport. So even if you have not shot before you can be a part of the team.
We are a highly sociable club and have numerous organised social events throughout the year, including bowling, ice skating, a regular pub quiz and, weather permitting, BBQs. So you can get to know your fellow club members better and have a great time at University. We have a weekly social every Wednesday evening at The Three Wheatsheaves pub in Lenton, there are details on how to get there on the new website. So if you fancy some beverages, a few games of pool and a pub quiz (you win beer) then join us at the pub.
