Robertson and Emms fall in SIngapore Quarters

Olympic silver medallists Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms went out in today´s quarter-finals of the Singapore Open.

The top seeds lost in three sets after racing through the first against Thailand sixth seeds Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam. They won the first at a cost of just four points but were then edged out in the other two games 15-12 15-11.

Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg also fell, beaten by Denmark´s Olympic bronze medallists Jens Eriksen and Mette Schjoldager 17-14 15-12.

And the defeat of England´s two mixed pairs completed English interest in the Singapore Open.

Andrew Smith and Tracey Hallam fell in the singles first round along with Robertson and Blair and Archer and Clark in the tough men´s doubles and Ella Tripp and Jo Wright in the women´s doubles. Emms and Kellogg reached the second round before falling to a tough Thailand pair while David Lindley and Kristian Roebuck did best among the men, reaching the second round.

The England players will remain in Asia for next week´s Malaysian Open.
