‘Murderball’ at Stoke Mandeville

Stoke Mandeville Stadium will host the2007 Wheelchair Rugby Europa Cup on 11-13 May.

Wheelchair rugby is a fast and furious game and the club champions of the 8 strongest European nations comp[ete for the Europa Cup.  Many Paralympians will be battling to win the most prestigious club trophy in Europe.

Chairman of  reigning champions London WRC Steve Palmer commented ‘We are so glad to be hosting the event this year.  We’ve got a great sport and we really wanted to show it off.  The Europa Cup has been the Holy Grail for us … like a Premiership club winning the Champions League’.

London will be hard to beat having won the tournament for three consecutive years, a record in the sport’s history. Tournament organizer (and London player) Justin Frishberg says ‘Three in a row is an immense achievement.  Four in a row - that may never be done again. We are really hungry for this one.
