Second gold for Carlin as GBR finish with 11 medals
A gold medal for Jazz Carlin and silver for Chris Walker-Hebborn saw Britain’s swimmers close their account at the European Short Course Championships in Israel with 11 medals from a team of 10 athletes.
Carlin (National Centre, Bath) had to swim a new best time in the 400m Freestyle to take her second gold medal of the championships. Carlin dug deep at the finish to take the touch from Hungarian swimmers Katinka Hosszu with silver Boglarka Kapas with bronze.
And in the final individual event of the championships Walker-Hebborn (National Centre, Bath) set a new British Record 23.09 in the 50m Backstroke to take joint silver with Italy’s Simone Sabbioni. Gold went to Tomasz Polewka of Poland.
Britain ended the five-day championships with two gold medals, seven silver and two bronze.
