Windsor U13s completed their league season by winning away at Newbury in a match played in atrocious weather and so remained unbeaten in the league this season. There was strong support on the sidelines for Windsor and those present had to endure sleet and a howling gale. Windsor started with the wind behind them and were soon ahead as Jack Johnson joined the line from full back and sprinted clear to score in the corner. Then Jack Pattinson broke clear from a ruck before drawing the Newbury defence then passing inside to Jack Johnson with Tom Heeks in support. A high tackle resulted in a Windsor penalty from which Tim Bascombe drove within a metre of the Newbury line leaving Jack Tompkins to pile over to score from the second phase. An excellent dummy from James Enright led to him scoring under the posts then Bradley Mills registered Windsor's fourth try of the half in a crash ball move. William Crane converted twice in very difficult kicking conditions to leave the visitors 24-0 up at half-time. Into the wind and sleet in the second half, Windsor found it much more difficult but Tompkins added another try. Peter Tidey had a great debut for Windsor at prop. In the closing stages Windsor were unable to get out of their own half and Newbury came back into it with two well deserved tries and a conversion.
Windsor's closest rivals for the Berkshire U13s League are Abbey and the two sides played out a draw at Home Park in early January. Windsor remain top for the time being but Abbey have yet to complete their fixtures and could still draw level with Windsor on points. "
