Windsor U13s came from behind to secure a win against a Marlow U13s side at Home Park on Sunday. After an evenly balanced opening it was Marlow who broke the deadlock to take a 5-0 lead after running in a try from the halfway line.
With props Huw Rowlands and Joe Smith working hard in the scrum, Windsor increased the pressure on the visitors defence and were awarded a penalty 20 metres out. Josh Deeley charged through two attempted tackles before being held up but another penalty was awarded 5 metres out. Deeley took it on again, this time crossing the try line and Mark Dickens converted to give Windsor a 7-5 lead at half time.
Windsor started strongly in the second half with Josh Batterham doing well in the lineout and they began to dominate possession. Niall Salter-O'Reilly came close to breaking through the Marlow defence. Then Blair Hart fed Joe Whitaker in space and he rounded off an excellent performance by scoring in the corner to give Windsor a 12-5 lead. James Home and Max Walker almost added to the Windsor score before Alexander Jayes, playing his first match since returning to the club completed the scoring when he powered through to the Marlow try line. Marlow attacks were resisted by strong tackling from Max Walker and Joe Whitaker. Ben Davis had an impressive match, generally putting himself about to good effect.
