Worthing U13s 39 v Windsor 12

Windsor U13’s took a squad of 25 players, some experienced and some new to the game, down to the South Coast on Sunday, for a match against Worthing.

The home side started strongly and were the first to score from a scrum 15 metres out as Windsor missed tackles. After a slow start Windsor began to improve and equalised when Rhys Davies fed Bradley Mills who broke through the Worthing defence to score. Tom Heeks converted the try to give Windsor a 7-5 lead. Worthing hit back when scrum half Jack Metters chased an up and under. Windsor failed to field the kick and Metters won the race to touch the ball down in goal to put Worthing back into the lead. However, shortly afterwards Aaron Joselyn scored an excellent solo try to leave Windsor 12-10 up at half time. At that point Windsor introduced 10 substitutes, several of which were playing only their first or second match for Windsor. The new recruits held out well initially but gradually Worthing’s experience began to tell and they proceeded to score 5 further tries and 2 conversions without reply including a second try for Metters. Matthew Tassell had a fine debut at full-back for Windsor, finding touch when necessary and making several try saving tackles. Josh Deeley was again impressive in only his second match for Windsor. The Match ended in a 39-12 win for the home side.
