Damart to Sponsor Young Lions Tour
27th June 2003The British Amateur Rugby League Association is delighted to announce that Damart Sport, the worlds best selling thermal underwear, will be sponsoring the BARLA Great Britain Young Lions tour of New Zealand 2003.
The sponsorship will provide significant cash support for the tour together with goods in kind that will be particularly appropriate as the Young Lions head into the New Zealand winter.
The Damart BARLA Great Britain Young Lions tour departs for New Zealand on July the 9th and will play four games against New Zealand Rugby league representative teams. The tour will be the first time a BARLA Youth side has played against Kiwi opposition for 8 years, with the last time the two countries clashed at this level being on the BARLA 1995 New Zealand Tour.
The Young Lions last visited the antipodes in 2001 on the Australian Schoolboys Emerging States tour returning with an outstanding record of six wins from seven games.
BARLA Director Ian Cooper comments, "I am delighted that a company of Damart's stature are supporting grassroots Rugby League. Such a sponsor adds tremendous kudos to the tour and with the provision of Damart products the sponsors will be 'hands on' in assisting the Young Lions as they face up to a tough assignment in the New Zealand winter."
Damart Marketing Director, John Bottomley said: "Damart Sport has a long history of supporting rugby league, from schoolboys and amateurs to the top professionals and we are delighted to be sponsoring the BARLA Young Lions Tour to New Zealand. We wish the team all the very best in the competition."
