The Glade Cycling Club Welcomes New Members
The Glade Cycling Club is based in Chingford, which is on the North East edge of the London area, adjoining the delightful Epping Forest. The club caters mainly for Mountain Biking but most members also ride road bikes when the forest is too wet and also compete in time trials and road races. Although the rides through Epping Forest are exhilarating, every care is taken to preserve the beauty of the forest and have due care for horse riders and other forest users. If you wish to join a Sunday clubrun to see if you enjoy it, the club meets at the ‘Willow Cafe’ Bury Road, E4 by the Golf Course at approximately 10.15 am. There is no obligation to join the club, you have nothing to lose by enjoying a pleasant ride through the forest.All About The Glade The club was founded in 1925 by a group of keen cyclists who met at ‘The Glade’ an area of Epping Forest near Whipps Cross. The Glade cycling club is a small non-sponsored club that is organised to provide cycling opportunities for it’s members, being affiliated to the British Cycling Federation and the major cycling associations. There is no obligation for members to race but those who choose to are given every encouragement.
Clubnight Meetings The members meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month, (excluding bank holidays) at the Clubroom, The Primary Hall, Chingford United Reformed Church, Buxton Road, Chingford, London E4 7DP. The clubnights are very informal, where members meet to discuss cycling and any other subjects over a cup of tea. We also have table tennis, a small snooker/pool table and darts.
