About The Club The Glendene Cycling Club is the largest cycling club in the county of Essex, South East England. It has over 150 members of all ages taking part in both national and local time trials, road races, mountain bike cyclo-cross and track events as well as weekly club runs and social events.
We currently have an active membership of over 150. Most members are based in Essex and North-East London, but the club retains active links with members who have settled throughout the world.
The club was set up in 1921 with the aims of promoting cycle racing, sociability and good fellowship. These remain the aims of the club today and the club actively pursues a policy of promoting a varied social scene as well as catering for racing enthusiasts. The club welcomes membership applications from riders and non-riders at any level. The club is particularly keen to encourage families and young riders. The club has a Youth Development Officer and a Family Membership Scheme.
About the Club Members The club has members of all standards and ages - these include:
- Young children supporting their parents or competing in their own right.
- Youths and Juveniles competing in road races, track and time trials.
- Road Racing Cyclists ranging from BCF 4th Category to Elite.
- Time Triallists competing in national and local events.
- Tri-Athletes trying to improve their cycling performance.
- Veterans competing in LVRC and other events - including several ex-internationals.
- Club Runners, Tourists and other Social cyclists.
- Non-Cycling social members.
