Club Information

Based in the North-West of England, the club was established in 1932 as the Cestrian Wheelers and has a membership of over 70. The objectives of the Chester Road Club are to promote cycling as a sport and the social welfare of its members. The club offers something for everyone from the complete beginner to the experienced cyclist. Chester Road Club is affiliated to the BCF and the RTTC and our members are able to enjoy a full programme of racing. There is a wealth of racing experience within the club and novices are given every encouragement to become involved.

Recent club achievements include an amazing 5 silver medals in the CP-ISRA World Games in Nottingham during July 2001. In his first World Games, Rik Waddon gave an outstanding performance both on the track at the Harvey Haddon Stadium in Nottingham and on the road at Darley Moor. He achieved three silver medals in the flying 200m sprint, the kilometre time trial and the 3000m pursuit at the Harvey Haddon Stadium in addition to two silver medals in the 10km time trial and the 40km road race at Darley Moor. On August 11th Rik won the Gold medal in the in the National Track Championships at the Manchester Velodrome. He competed in the flying 200m sprint, the kilometre time trial and the 3km pursuit to achieve 1st place overall in the combined omnium.

Rik has also achieved qualification for the World Class Performance Plan, which means that he can now concentrate solely on his training and racing for Great Britain. In September, he will be flying off to Switzerland for the European Championships. What a truly fantastic achievement.
