Southport Cycling Club was founded in 1932, to encourage cycling as a healthy activity and to promote it as a sport. At the moment the club has around 109 members and has its own club house in Victoria Park, Rotten Row, Southport and meets there every Monday evening at 8pm. The club has been very successful at producing racing cyclists at all levels including International and Olympic in all aspects of the sport - road, off road and track. For those who just want to ride a bike, or just talk about cycling a warm welcome is assured. Club Runs continue to leave the Plough Hotel at 9.00am every Sunday morning, and every other day at 9.30 (except Wednesday's when they leave at 10.00 for a more leisurely ride). As well as racing the club has many different social events during the year ahead, including trips to Majorca, the French Alps and Mons in Belgium.
