Clifton Cycling Club, York - Founded 1895
Introduction We are a group of road racers, time trialists, Audax riders and recreational riders based in York, UK. We welcome new riders of all interests and ability.
Runs
We have runs for all! Our runs vary from the Saturday morning Social group, which does 40 miles or so at a steady pace in a beginning/returning cyclist friendly manner, to the Tuesday evening chaingang for the racing lads, and all points in between. In summer, the organised runs are on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday evening, in winter Saturday and Sunday only.
If you're not sure which ride is best for you, then please get in touch first and we'll be happy to suggest what would be best.
Weekend Runs
On Saturdays We leave Exhibition Square at 10 am for a two hour ride. Two groups go.
The training ride tends to do a lumpy 40 mile loop round Leavening/Kirkham/Thornton-le-Clay. This usally takes about 2 hours (ie a 19mph-ish average)
Social Ride: 40+ miles with a cafe stop. Route will vary each week and be decided on the day depending on weather, riders etc.
On Sundays we leave Exhibition Square at 9am.
The social group does a tradional club run, complete with tea stop. Destinations are given below. Distances will usually be around 70 miles in January rising slowly to 100 or so in high summer.
