What is Keco?
Keco is a organisation running in the wear side area to make outdoor activities and training accessible to all who are interested, not only outdoor activities but the chance of training people as volunteers and helping others in their community in youth development and personal development programs.
Aims and Objectives:
The objectives shall be the provision of recreational facilities and personal development programs for the public at large or those who by means of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social & economic circumstances have need for such facilities.
To provide outdoor leisure and environmental based activities, training and education within the coalfields area.
Targeting those from disadvantaged areas who are, disengaged or have, special needs as well as those on low income.
To provide leisure activities and residential's for local youths, during school holidays and after school time.
To provide training and mentoring to help users gain employment within outdoor education, personal development and youth related services.
Help the disengaged get back into education and training.
Provide opportunities for special needs to access outdoor activities and gain certificated training.
To provide informal education, covering the basis of social and basic living skills.
To reduce juvenile crime, within the Coalfield area.
To provide a resource within the community, promoting healthier recreation and living.
