The Bowmen of Rutland Archery Club was formed in 1976, we are the only archery club in Rutland but our members come from Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire as well as Rutland. We are a target archery club with members shooting recurve, compound or longbow. We have a very friendly membership of approximately 70 archers and there is an active social calendar of events. The Junior part of the club is very active and enthusiastic with archers taking part in County and National competitions.
Each year we hold an indoor and outdoor club championships, during the winter the club takes part in the BA Postal League Portsmouth and Frostbite Leagues and in the summer we take part in the Selby Summer Postal League. In 2001 we celebrated our 25th anniversary by hosting our first Combined FITA tournament at Casterton Community College, this has now become an annual event held each year in February. For many years we have hosted the County Clout at Casterton Community College in October.
The club caters for archers of all abilities and age.
The club is fortunate to have within its membership one assistant coach, five coaches and one county coach who run the beginners courses and coach individual archers within the club.
