Introduction
Ouse Valley Archers was originally formed in 1995 and is affiliated under the Grand National Archery Society as a member of the Bedfordshire County Archers Association. Based at Woodside School in Bedford, we enjoy and promote the sport of archery and welcome archers from inexperienced beginners to seasoned competitors. The club encourages archers of all different styles including recurve, compound, barebow and longbow, though the majority of the archers shoot recurve with a small but growing group of longbow archers.
Location
We normally meet at Woodside Middle School on Church Lane in Bedford. There is a link to Streetmap.co.uk here for a map of the location.
The school field is large and flat and allows us to hold outdoor shoots up to distances of 70m/80yds in GNAS and FITA style target shooting. In the winter and when conditions do not allow safe outdoor shooting, we have the use of the school gymnasium and dining hall where we can shoot over a range of approximately 15yds. The club hosts a number of formal and informal competitions throughout the year including national record status events.
Session Times
The club mainly conducts target shooting and holds regular sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm until 10pm and on Sundays from 2pm until 5pm.
