The Warriors are a Llanelli side who play ‘social’ rugby. Playing mainly on Sundays our opponents are other local rugby clubs, pub and works teams. We operate ‘passive scrums’ and actively look to include players with learning difficulties.
In Wales and Llanelli rugby is the number one sport. It is the sport all play in school and there are clubs in every village. When Wales play the country comes to a stand still and tens of thousands travel to watch Wales play away. Its followers are renown for being passionate, loyal and knowledgeable. Every boy dreams of playing for Wales, it is the national game. For people with learning difficulties there is little chance to live out this dream. If sport is available at all, it tends to be individual sports like swimming or athletics and competition is segregated. The Warriors play full contact rugby against able-bodied athletes. The players face the same tackles, rucks and mauls. The prove that they can be as fast, strong, fit or brave as anyone else.
