We are a relatively small but growing club, conisting of over 30 members. Initially, the club came about as a sub-section of what used to be Basingstoke Swimming Club (now Basingstoke Bluefins), when a few swimmers got together to create another area of interest related to their discipline. That was back in 1980, and the club has kept it's strong link with The Swimming Club, recruting many of their members over the years as the swimmers wish to broaden their athletic interests.

Basically we have 5 squads:

National League squad:- Open to ANY players who wishes to play at a National Standard. Currently we compete in Division 3 of the National League. This squad is currently self funded by the players whilst we seek sponsorship. Training is on nominated Sunday nights ( see bulletin board under National League). Pool time: 20:30-21:30.

Senior Mens 'A' squad:- Open to club members who wish to compete with our top players, without committing to the expectations of the National League. We compete in Div 1 of Hampshire League and Div 2 of London League, with the aim of developing into the National League squad. Training times: Tuesdays 20:15- 21:15 (excluding match nights. See fixture list on http://www.bluefinspolo.co.uk/fixtures.htm ) and Sundays 20:30-21:30.

Men's 'B' squad:- Open to club members this squad has two aims to introduce and develop younger players into senior polo and to retain players within the club who want to play "social" waterpolo e.g. not as competitive as the 'A' squad but who can also pass on their experience to the developing players. Training times: Tuesdays 20:15- 21:15 (excluding match nights. See fixture list on http://www.bluefinspolo.co.uk/fixtures.htm)

Senior Ladies Squad:- Open to any female player who wishes to play water polo. Currently, we compete in the London League and friendlies. Training times: Thursday 20:15- 21:15 (excluding match nights. See fixture list on http://www.bluefinspolo.co.uk/fixtures.htm)

Junior Squads:- Open to any club member aged from 9-15 yrs. The aim of this squad is to introduce the skills of water polo and to develop into various competitive age group teams. Currently playing friendlies against local teams. Training times: Fridays 17:15-18:05
