Although based on a friendly theme the competition will be fearlessly fought by all parties in an attempt to win the title.
The English squad has been selected around the 2005 World Championship team with a further four anglers in pairs being selected on their previous achievements and angling merit. The squad also have their very own Theo Walcott with the introduction of a bright young angler Tom Maker. He has been brought in from the youth ranks to give him the experience required to fish future high level competitions. Tom will be accompanied by one of our most experienced anglers to make sure that he has the very best support throughout the trip.
The match itself will be a standard continuous 72 hour, four rod enduro pairs competition with five pairs from each country competing against each other, with the F.I.P.P.S point system being used as a placing indicator.
Team Captain, Mitch Smith stated in preparation for the friendly, “it’s been extremely hard work putting together all the relevant arrangements to make this happen but I am sure it will pay dividends for all those involved and for both countries angling.”
“Now that we have a true England representative team it's becoming increasingly aware that other countries recognise this squad as just that, The England Carp squad, and want to challenge there own national squads against it. I feel this will be the start of many friendly international carp angling competitions to come and hopefully we will be leading the way where ever we go".
