The Welsh Ice Skating Association has decided to open all Welsh Championship events to enhance the status of the event.  The Welsh Championships used to be a single event, but WISA has split this into three separate championships in order to fit in with NISA's national programme and ensure that the Welsh home nation events all fall shortly before the British events.

In addition to the Welsh Open NJS Figure Skating Championships, these competitions will include the Welsh Open Free Championships (RJS), to be held on 25th & 26th March 2007, which will inclue the NISA Cup Welsh team qualifiers.  Finally the Welsh Open Dance Championships (RJS), which will take place on 30th June & 1st July 2007, will give Solo Dance competitors the opportunity to skate the compulsory and the free dance shortly before the British Solo Dance Championships.  This event will also include Beginner and Pre-NJS Couples, as well as adult competitions.
