The Olympians on Ice
18 January 2007The listing was posted by National Ice Skating Association of the UK
For the first time, the Worlds greatest skaters from the current Winter Olympics are brought together in a stunning performance exclusive to 'The Midlands'. These amazing talents will be performing at the Skydome Arena, Coventry on Sunday 11 February 2007 at 3.00pm.
Evgeny Plushanko, Olympic and World Champion 2006, has the cast of these elite skaters. At the 2006 Olympics in Torino, he set new records, winning by a record 27 points. The scoring system is new and different from when our own late John Curry from the Midlands got the first maximum mark of 6 when he won the Olympics in 1976, thirty years earlier.
Olympic Pairs Champions Tatiana Totmianina & Maxim Marinin and Olympic Medalist Philippe Candeloro are also included in this line up of 15 elite skaters.
In addition our very own British Ice Dance Champions who retained their title on Saturday 13 January 2007 will be skating an exhibition. They came 10th in the World in 2006, the best since the Torvill and Dea era. Sinead and John Kerr are brother and sister and a great talent for the next Olympics.
The first part of the show will see vibrant Russian dancers (not on ice) and the incredible 'Atlantis' legens in their own right, as seen in the world tour of Cirque Due Soleil.
It is a unique opportunity for people of the MIdlands to attend this fantastic event of Olympic and top skating stars, many of whom have never skated publicly in the United Kingdom before, giving stunning performances which will make it an unforgettable experience for all ages.
