North Wales Cycling Tragedy
5th April 2007It was announced at a Coroner’s hearing today that solicitors now acting for the insurers of both Mr Harris the driver and Conwy County Borough Council have confirmed that jointly they will meet 100% of the claims for compensation to be advanced on behalf of the families of the four cyclists who tragically died in this incident on 8th January 2006.
The Coroner also set the date for the inquest which will commence on 4th June and is expected to last for approximately four weeks.
Since the matter of civil liability and compensation has now been resolved, the families will not be in a position to recover the legal costs incurred in being represented at the inquest.
British Cycling considers the issues arising from this matter to be of great significance to the families, to the wider cycling community and to the general public. British Cycling will therefore provide sufficient funding to ensure that the families are properly represented
