Competition Results News

The team consisting of Michael McCreadie, Aileen Neilson, Rosemary Lenton and Jim Seller visited Germany at the beginning of January to compete in the Identa Wheelchair Cup.  Tom Killin was selected to take part but was unable to attend due to a family bereavement.  Travelling with the team were Tom Pendreigh, coach and Val Allingham, Physiotherapist.

Scotland joined teams from Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Russia and two teams from Switzerland on the three sheet rink in Schwennengen to compete for the cup.  Scotland won through to compete against Russia in the final which resulted in Russia winning 7-4. So warm congratulations to a well deserved Silver second place.

Scotland has just left to compete in the World Wheelchair Curling Championships at Sursee, Switzerland this year.  So our good wishes go with the team and we all look forward to hearing the outcome.

The Four Nations Competition at Greenacres was sadly lacking in teams this year due to illness.  The Welsh participants had already made their travel arrangements and arrived in Glasgow keen to get on the ice.  So, Mike, Peter, Bill and Marion represented Wales and the Braehead members (different players for each game) won all three games.  We hope that next year all four nations will be able to compete.

Keep an eye open closer to home for Braehead V Lockerbie on the 7th Feb, where the team of Angie Malone and James Brown will be representing Braehead with pride.

Good curling to you all!
