Coles just misses singles title
24th February 2009TeamBath badminton player Chris Coles just missed out on taking the men’s singles title at the Yonex English National Under-19 Championships.
Coles, who was seeded 5/8, reached the singles final but went down 13-21, 21-13, 21-17 to Daniel Groom.
Coles and his men’s doubles partner Matthew Nottingham, also reached the semi-finals before going out 11-21, 18-21 to Mark Middleton and Ben Stawski, who went on to collect the title at the championships in Milton Keynes.
In the mixed doubles, TeamBath’s Stuart Rowlands and his partner Sarah Milne, beat Coles and his partner Jessica Fletcher in the quarter-finals, but then lost their semi to eventual winners Ben Stawski and Lauren Smith.
