Coles wins European Junior crown
3rd May 2011University of Bath student Chris Coles has collected the badminton men’s doubles title at the European Junior Championships.
The Sports Performance student took the title at Vantaa in Finland partnering Matt Nottingham.
The pair, who were seeded 3/4 for the tournament, came from behind to beat Germany’s Fabian Holzer and Max Schwenger, seeded two, 15-21, 21-14, 21-15 in the final.
In March Chris was named winner of the 2011 Badminton Writers Association young player of the year award.
Chris, who was last month’s TeamBath athlete of the month, is coached by Peter Bush at the University of Bath and is the recipient of a Jeff Trendell Scholarship.
