Ice Hockey UK Uphold their Decision
31st July 2003IHUK Board of Directors wish to announce that they uphold their decision not to affiliate the EIHL. After another meeting of the EIHL & FBNL no agreement could be reached, although both organizations re-confirmed their commitment to unity of the sport and the wish for one professional league to take the sport forward.
"We came to London and listened to the views of all parties and after reviewing the notes and paperwork compiled we could find no reason or justification for a further League to be affiliated, nor could we find suitable validation for the Elite League to be affiliated through any other body than IHUK. We sincerely hope that those teams wishing to play competitive Ice Hockey will join forces and create a league to be reckoned with for the growth and stability of the sport in the UK".
The Directors of IHUK would like to confirm that this collective decision now sees a closure to any other negotiations and thanks IIHF for their support in this matter. IHUK can also verify that they have spoken to the Findus British National League who agree with unifying the sport and would welcome applications from any other teams.
As this was the fourth meeting facilitated by IHUK it was hoped that by having the IIHF chair the meeting would bring about a different outcome.
Ice Hockey UK would like to invite all professional teams to register directly through our office.
