Buttler awarded England Increment Contract
20th February 2013The ECB today announced that Somerset wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler has been awarded an England increment contract for 2012-13.
Buttler qualifies for the award by virtue of having represented England on ten occasions since the contract period began on October 1; one T20 against Sri Lanka during the ICC World T20, two T20s against India in December, two ODIs also against India and three T20s and two ODIs against New Zealand on the current tour.
Non-contracted players can earn an England increment contract via a points system. Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two for a T20 or ODI appearance, with an increment contract being awarded automatically once the player reaches 20 points during the 12-month contract period.
ECB National Selector, Geoff Miller, said: “This award reflects the contribution Jos has made over the last five months in the shorter formats of the game for England and we congratulate him on his achievement.”
