European record attempts LIVE from Valencia this Sunday
8th January 2026This Sunday, the world’s fastest roads meet the world’s fastest athletes, with European records in sight — and you can watch it all LIVE.
The 10K Valencia Ibercaja will be streamed LIVE on the European Athletics YouTube channel, giving fans around the globe front-row access to one of the most anticipated road races of the year.
Just one week after the European women’s 10km record fell to Belgium’s Jana Van Lent (30:10), history could be rewritten again as Sweden’s Andreas Almgren and Great Britain’s Eilish McColgan headline stacked elite fields on Valencia’s lightning-fast course.
Almgren, Europe’s first sub-27-minute 10km runner, is flying — and surrounded by athletes ready to push the pace into record-breaking territory. In the women’s race, McColgan targets the European record herself, just days after it was reset.
The line-ups also include world 5000m silver medallist Isaac Kimeli (BEL), Olympic and world 10,000m finalist Edwin Kurgat (KEN), European 10,000m Cup gold medallist Efrem Gidey (IRL), European indoor silver and bronze medallist Azeddine Habz (FRA), European 5000m bronze medallist Marta García (ESP), and in-form Likina Amebaw (ETH).
