Berks On Bikes (BOB) started in April 1993 as a group of like minded individuals who wanted to organise mountain bike rides in the local area. Since then we have grown into a well known and established club with over 150 members, including many families. We've had considerable success at competitions, ranging from local Gorrick races to international events. We organise local rides around the Crowthorne area four times a week, and regular weekend and day rides to areas like the Isle of Wight, Exmoor, Forest Of Dean, Peak District, Coed Y Brenin, Afan Argoed etc. We also administer the Swinley Forest Permit Scheme.
Monthly club meetings are held at the Bird In Hand pub, Little Sandhurst, on the second Monday of the month at 8:30pm. Come along, join us for a drink or two, and find out about the club.
The main aim of the club is to have fun and enjoy our sport. We have a range of regular rides suitable for reasonably fit novices through to serious racers.
We have a minimum unaccompanied age limit of 14 on all our rides. Anyone under 14 is more than welcome to join us for a ride if they can persuade someone over 18 to come with them. We are sorry to have introduced this rule, unfortunately it was forced on us by past experience.
The best way to find out about the club is to join us on a Saturday afternoon ride, we leave the public car park in Crowthorne at 2:00pm. We ride for 2-3 hours in the local area at a fairly relaxed pace.
You don't need to pay up and join straight away, you're quite welcome to ride with us a few times and see if you like us.
