BANK OF SCOTLAND PERTH & DISTRICT CURLING CLUB.
The Club was Instituted in 1972 and Admitted to the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in 1975.
We Curl mostly at Dewars Rinks. Perth which has a superb 8 sheet Curling Rink as well as Indoor Bowls facility. Our Club is open to current Members of HBOS plc Banking Staff or Retired members of Staff of HBOS plc OR Direct relatives of any of these categories of membership. HBOS plc stands for Halifax Bank of Scotland and is one of the largest Banks in the UK. It came about through a Merger of Halifax Bank and Bank of Scotland, which is the oldest Bank in Scotland, 1695. The merger came about in 2001.
MEMBERS:
We currently have approx. 19/20 members who regularly Curl with the Club in a variety of Leagues run either by Dewars Rinks or by our Curling province, Perth & District.
In the past our Club has won the Perhshire Trophy which is the Main Province Trophy and we aslo been successful in the Cox Trophy and our Members have in the mid to late 1980's been one of the leading Teams at Perth.
Currently we have 2 teams playing in the Perth Super leagues. In Division 1 the Rink is Skipped by Gordon Russell and in Division 2 the Rink is Skipped by Alan Doig.
The Club have just retained the Bank of Scotland Curling Championship Trophy the Rink being skipped by Bill Duncan.
