Great Britain are assured of qualifying for the semi-finals of the Melbourne Deaflympic Women's Football Tournament in at least second place in the preliminary group after edging past Denmark 1-0 on Tuesday.

With GB's top goalscorer Clare Davies suspended from the penultimate group match after picking up two yellow cards earlier in the tournament, it was Brighton's Sonya Nye who sealed victory for Great Britain with a 77th minute strike.

This win leaves Great Britain on 10 points after three wins and one draw from their four matches so far.  They are now two points behind group leaders the United States, who they play in their final group match on Thursday.  Should GB beat the United States they will go into the semi-finals as group winners and will take on the fourth placed team from the group.  But they cannot now finish lower than second in the group as they are four points clear of third-placed Denmark.
