Friday the 8th July saw the first ever SSCo presentation evening with twenty-six primary schools and five secondary schools now being involved in the School Sport Coordinator Programme.
The event drew over three hundred students, parents and teachers together to celebrate the success of the first year. Students were recognised for their individual achievements in key stages 2, 3, and 4. Other categories included The Participation Award, presented to Mandeville Sports College and Stoke Mandeville Combined School for their ethos towards encouraging all students to participate in at least two hours of physical activity a week. Fifteen categories in all concluded with a special award given to the most improved school in the partnership, Oak Green Combined School, whose developments in physical activity and commitment to the programme has enabled it to engage more students in physical activity than ever before.
Partnership Development Manager (2004/2005), Sarah Embrey said “It was brilliant to recognise the achievements of all schools involved in the Development Programme and it is hoped that this event will grow each year and foster a positive attitude towards physical activity across the whole community”.
