Disability Swimming Festival
28th November
Stoke Mandeville Stadium
16 swimmers attended the event which was made possible with the help of young leaders from Sir Henry Floyd, John Colet and
The aim of the festival was to increase swimmer confidence within the water and to promote swimming as a fun and enjoyable experience. This was done by encouraging movement in the water, floating and submersion. The young leaders worked one to one with the swimmers encouraging guided discovery through games such as raft races, nursery rhymes and water polo.
The swimmers were given a well done pack which included a certificate and information on the two main Learn to Swim providers (see below) within the area, with the hope that the swimmers will become more actively involved in swimming.
Overall the event was a huge success with positive feedback from the schools that brought swimmers and from the young leaders that took part. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the event has proved to be a great benchmarking tool for future festivals across the county.
