Buckinghamshire County Squads 2006

 

During May 2006 Assessment Days were held based central to the county in Aylesbury to select the best boys and girls for the u13 & u15 County Squads. Over 200  young people from across the county were nominated by their Club Coach or PE Teacher to attend a session and showcase their skills in front of a number of coaches and assessors in the hope of being selected to represent Buckinghamshire at the Inter County Tournaments to be held in Reading on 21^st May 2006 (u13) and 11^th June 2006 (u15).

During the tournament players were again continually being assessed by regional coaches who were selecting boys and girls to represent the South of England in the Inter Regional Tournament. Those selected for the regional squads are highlighted (R).

Bucks u15 Girls finished in 1^st place on basket difference with good victories over Hampshire and Oxford. Bucks u13 & u15 boys teams both finished a close 2^nd in the tournament to Hampshire to whom both teams narrowly lost by a single point. The u13 Girls were not quite as successful as the other Bucks teams as they lost all three of their games although individually they had the most regional players selected.

 

This is the benchmark competition for Bucks to see where our development work is in comparison to the other counties in our region and we now seem to be leading the way  with Hampshire who have had a good development program for some years.
