Mavericks, runners up in this season's Netball Superleague, face Loughborough Lightning next Saturday (02 June) with a place in this year's Grand Final at stake.
This play off, the competition's minor final, is a repeat of last year's thrilling encounter at the same stage of the competition, which Mavericks won 46-44 in a scintillating double-overtime match. Since that game, England international Karen Atkinson has transferred from Loughborough to Mavericks, a move which has given the Hatfield side additional pace and stability, and her anticipated match up against her national squad colleague Jade Clarke will be one of the highlights of Saturday's match.
Mavericks have won both encounters between the two sides in the regular league season this year, but with Loughborough running into some excellent form in the past few games, and the pressure of the play offs, anything could happen.
