Chiltern continued their Bucks League campaign with a home fixture against Aylesbury. The starting line-up was arguably the strongest available as the coaches looked to give the squad a run out before the Cup Final against Buckingham.
Once again Chiltern were in charge from the start and it was Jo Stevens who made the first break towards the Aylesbury line. The ball was taken on by the forwards and Ben Symington burst through to score the first try which was unconverted.
Aylesbury competed well in phases but were always vulnerable to breaks by Chiltern’s runners and Alex Miller was kicking well from hand. It was his chip, and a good chase by Jo Stevens that set up the second try for Luke Martin and the third was not long in coming with the ball being taken on through the forwards and Ben Symington was on hand to score.
Chiltern were now completely dominant and the backs and forwards shared the scoring opportunities with Jo Stevens, Ben Symington (for his hat trick), Chris Delaney and Harry Andrews crossing the line to make the half time score 35-0.
The coaches made a number of changes for the second half to give Chiltern’s support players a run. In the early stages of the half the coordination was not there and some loose passing in midfield enabled Aylesbury to score a try. That was only a temporary setback however as Chiltern scored two more tries through Steve Wiggill and Andy Slater to make the final score 45-5.
Well played to the starting line-up of Harry Andrews, Chris Delaney, Ben Symington, Callum Tilbury, Alex Michaels, Luke Martin, Jack Benson, James DC, Sam Privett, Alex Miller, Ross Wilson, Tom Jervis, Steve Wiggill, Jo Stevens, Lewis Evans, and to all those who came on as second half substitutes.
