Wendy Howse from the Wye Valley School spent Friday afternoons in January & February 2003 with some Yr 6 students from Castlefield in their dance lessons.
The topic was 'Game, set and match' which is based on the theme of tennis.
The dance is split into 3 sections.
Section 1 = The crowd at a tennis match (head bobbing, clapping, waving).
The photos show the three groups in their cowd scene.
Section 2 = The tennis ball (Bouncing, spinning, rolling). This part of the dance is performed individually.
Section 3 = The tennis players (mirroring and matching, action and reaction).This part of the dance is performed in pairs.
The students performed excellently and grew in confidence as the weeks progressed.
The Yr 6 class teacher taught many aspects of the lesson in the hopw that she will be able to lead the whole dance module next year.
All in all an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
