Bracknell 10 Windsor 15
Windsor visited Bracknell two months after a tough fixture against them in a three way at Basingstoke which saw the Home Park side win by a single try in a tough game.
The contest has traditionally been hard fought and this was to prove no different.
But to use a football cliche, it was very much a game of two halfs, with Windsor rampaging and dominant in the first to go 15-0 up then sit back thinking the game was won.
Bracknell had other ideas and fought hard pulling back two tries in the second half which they dominated and leaving the Lions looking grateful to the ref at the final whistle.
So we will concentrate on the first half, rather than the second!
The forwards Alex Wilson, Teo Kubiena and Billy Richardson set a solid platform for the backs and some probing runs from Danny Pyatt and Danny Moseley exposed gaps.
But the first to capitalise was new boy Adam Scaffardi who pounced on a loose ball and ran in a cracking try followed shortly afterwards by a pushover try from Teo Kubiena.
A third was added by scrum half Danny Pyatt who broke blind from a ruck and weaved his way around the covering winger to give the Lions a comfortable lead at the break.
But some poor tackling in the backs and a clear relaxation from the forwards saw the initiative switch to Bracknell and they were quick to capitalise with two tries.
Windsor seemed to switch back on and kept out Bracknell for the last few minutes to take the game but need to take on board that a game is never over until the final whistle.
