The day started with lovely bright Sunshine and light breeze, Our host Coach Wayne from Abbey gave the U7’s his stand-up routine for 5 minutes, which he assures me is to remind the lads of the rules.

The B Team Squad was:
Edward Rowell (Capt), Sammy Holden (Vice Capt) Loui Brogan,
Alexander Lord, Billy Pratt, Matthew Jones, Matthew William’s, Tom Donohue, Joseph Brooke, Jack Griggs.

Windsor 25 v Redingensians 0
Windsor started as they finished off at Marlow last week, the boys were on their game straight away pushing Redingsians back into their own half till they won the ball. Then Windsor let the attack show with Edward, Alex and Tom all getting tries before half time. The half-time chat was just keep it the same and concentrate. Windsor’s try line was never under threat with Jack and Billy getting every tag that came near. As soon as Windsor got the ball Edward took his captain’s responsibility and darted for the line to get his second of the game. And to finish the game Billy charged up the centre to make it 25-0.

Windsor 20 v Maidenhead 20 (or was it Windsor C in disguise)
In this game Windsor C side had stepped in for Maidenhead who could not raise a side, they then went on to show what a wonderful depth of talent Windsor U7’s have. The B side were pushed all the way by the C guys, who had such determination to show their worth to the B lads, which may have some of the B’s worrying about a place in the side for the next tournament. A great display of tagging and running by every player in the game made for a very entertaining game.

Windsor 35 v Bracknell 0
Windsor had now had a good rest and wanted to get back to winning ways, Alex Lord had point to prove, and Bracknell were on the receiving end of his magical running which got him his hat-trick of tries. Again the Windsor line moved up quickly to keep pushing Bracknell back into their own half, this is how it stayed, with Windsor on the Bracknell line for most of the first half, with Matthew Jones, Loui and Alex scoring which ended the half 15-0.
The second half was much like the first with Alex scoring from the start, Windsor pushed Bracknell back till the ball was won, then scoring with ease as Joseph and Jack made good ground in the first phase to make openings for Edward, Loui and Alex again.

Windsor 40 v Reading Abbey 5
In this game Windsor cruised to win again, with their main strength of tagging showing throughout the game. A quick moving defensive line pushed Abbey back to win the ball each time, Billy, Jack and Loui coming at them with speed put off the Abbey attack. When Windsor had the attack Tom and Matthew William’s stretched the Abbey defence to unload the ball to the support players which ended in Edward x 2, Loui x 2 and Alexander x 4 tries.
Every player played his part but Sammy and Jacks tagging was outstanding, Alex was a big squad player with 9 try’s. A big thank you from all of the coaches to the Mums and Dads for your support, this was yet another day to be very proud of your boys.

However, to finish, a very big well done to Simon and the Windsor C team that I feel gave the B side its hardest game.  Windsor as a club won the Abbey shield outright again, however, across the whole U7’s section A, B & C did not lose a game with 9 wins and 3 draws, we can be very proud of all the children in Windsor U7’s……….Ray.
