An update for the Puma's who have had 2 great tournaments over the last 2 weeks, the first at Marlow, then at Abbey last Sunday.

Firstly to Marlow, and the first signs that the Puma's were starting to show the teamwork and results they are capable of.

The Puma's had superb result against established B teams, only losing 1 game on the way to the final. They started with a 1-1 draw, lost the second 2-0, then a good 1-0 win over Beaconsfield saw the whole team really starting to believe in themselves. Confidence in their ability saw them start to exert real pressure in the next 2 games, a 4-1 win over Marlow, and a fantastic 6-2 win Aylesbury. Peter and I were hoarse from cheering!!!

This was all due to taking on the lessons learnt from Beaconsfield where they had a lot of possession, but couldn't make enough of it. Here the boys were excellent in making the ball available to their support players, and time and again got the ball out to the wingers. They were also great in defence, many a crunching tackle was applauded by the parents!

In the final a great London Irish team took the honours 2-0, and whilst all credit goes to them for their recycling skills(some of the best Peter and I have seen at our age group) it must be noted that they had only played 3 games leading up to the final, the last at 11am, so were very fresh compared to our lads.

The whole team played so well, it would be unfair to single out any individual performances, well done to all.(including Peter carrying the tent back to the car unaided!) Thanks to the parents getting it up and down without any major injuries.

Abbey brought another set of fine results, winning all their games, 3-0 against Bracknell, 5-1 against Abbey, and 2-0 against Abbey again later in the day. The side was made up of most of the boys from the previous week, and they were a cut above the opposition. Great tries from Max, Luke, and Sam, set up by really good forward play, and support from the rest of the team. Well done to all who attended.

Points to remember - we are a quick side, but will come up against bigger opposition, lets get the pass in before we are tackled. If you saw Ben going to ground and presenting the ball, he had it absolutely right, all the forwards need to do the same.

See you all after the Easter break.

Jon and Peter.
