Scottish Fly Fishing Championships held at the Lake of Menteith

The Scottish Fly Fishing Championships for anglers with a disability were held at the Lake of Menteith. The championships are organised by Scottish Disability Sport and the event convener is the SDS angling co-ordinator John Hood from Culross.

The weather on the day was not kind to the anglers and only 28 fish in total were caught. Top rod at the 2004 championships was Tony Lithgow from Cowdenbeath in Fife with 5 fish for 10lb 11oz. The heaviest fish was caught by Alex Meikle from East Kilbride with 7lb 11oz. The top boatman on the day was Bill Murray from Glasgow.

Following the weigh in, the Scottish team for the international event to be held in Wales in 2005 was selected:

The 25th Fly Fishing International will be held by Scotland at the Lake of Menteith between 21st and 23rd June. The convener of this event is also John Hood from Culross and teams are expected from Wales, Ireland and England to compete for the team trophy currently held by Ireland.
