Holme Pierrepont looks forward to the 7th World University Rowing Championships
On Thursday 22nd August competition begins at Holme Pierrepont in the 7th World University Rowing Championships 2002.
This is the biggest watersports event in Holme Pierrepont's 31 year history and sees competition between 23 different countries and 400 athletes from a far a field as Australia, South Africa and China.
Great Britain are fielding a strong squad with a hope of medals. Peter Wells in the Men's single scull stands a good chance of a medal position, as does the Great Britain Men's Eights squad.
Past World University Championships have launched the career of many Great Britain stars. James Cracknell, a gold medal winner at the Sydney Olympics, began his international career at the World University Championships in 1993. University Rowing is a true reflection of the strength and depth of British Rowing, and this years University Rowing Championships promises to deliver top class, competitive rowing to The National Watersports Centre in Nottingham
Thursday 22nd August and Friday 23rd August see the heats of the events with all finals being contested on Saturday 24th August. Rowing begins at 10.00am each day with the last race commencing at approximately 17.00pm on all three days.
At Holme Pierrepont there is a media centre with prime viewing seating, phone and internet connections, full results service and flash quotes from athletes and team officials.
