BHS's Ride UK featured on BBC’s Countryfile

16th August 2006

The British Horse Society’s Senior Executive of Access and Rights of Way, Henry Whittaker, and retired BHS Volunteer, Brenda Wickham, will be appearing on the BBC’s Countryfile on 20 August.

Henry will be shown riding the Radnor Forest Ride with Countryfile presenter Adam Henson and Brenda Wickham will be shown being interviewed on location.

Ride UK, a project run by The British Horse Society, aims to create a comprehensive network of bridleways across the country.  Improving access to safe off road riding for all.

Henry rides with Adam Henson along the Radnor Forest Ride between the Breacon Beacons National Park and Upper Chapel.

This much needed promotion for the Ride UK project takes place on the recently opened Radnor Forest Ride.

Henry said: “This is a great boost for the Ride UK project. We want to highlight all new and undiscovered rides to riders nationwide.”

Brenda Wickham, will be appearing on Countryfile with Henry. She said "We have been trying for years to interest the BBC in the work of the BHS and we have now succeeded. It will be a great show. The BBC put a lot of effort into it and we were very impressed with their professional and dedicated approach.

"I hope that this will lead to many more programmes about riding in the countryside. Over the years the BHS has done so much work for access and the world needs to know this."

The BBC’s Countryfile covers current countryside and environmental issues every Sunday from 11am.
