Shirehampton Park Golf Course - 18 Hole Parkland Course

Founded in 1904, originally owned by Napier Miles, part of the Kingsweston Estate, the course was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1918. During the Second World War the course was reduced to 9 holes, the remainder being used as an Army Camp for United States troops. One hole is called “America” to this day. In June 1952, 18 holes were once again in play and the scars of war have disappeared. Famous for its connection with Sea and Ships over the years, the course was used by officers and crews from ships docked at Avonmouth.

Some 5 miles along the Portway from the centre of Bristol and several hundred feet above the river, it would be difficult to find a more stunning setting. Shirehampton Park has magnificent views across the River Avon, the Gordano Valley and the distant spires of Clifton. The timbered park is a delight to the eye at all seasons of the year.

The parkland links are on the immediate outskirts of the village of Shirehampton and a good test of golf for players of all standards. Not a long course, but the undulating nature of the ground amply makes up for the lack of length. Our fairways are tight and some greens small with narrow or raised entry.
