Chichester Bowmen is a target archery club shooting all types of bow, traditional and modern.
We are based in Chichester, West Sussex not far from the Hampshire border. We have our own dedicated, 100 yard range and clubhouse in Oaklands Park adjacent to the Chichester Festival Theatre, where we have shot since the club was founded in 1956.
During the summer we meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings and all day Sunday, but the range is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so members can shoot whenever they wish. We also offer indoor shooting on Sundays during the winter for those who prefer to be warm and dry.
Our annual Soup Shoot, a competition open to all GNAS registered archers, is held on the first Sunday in October. The round is a Western (4 dozen arrows at 60yds & 4 dozen arrows at 50yds) with hot soup and food served during the day. This is a relaxed shoot with mostly "liquid" prizes for the winners. Entry forms are available from mid-July and you will find more details on our website.
We are a friendly club which welcomes new members at all levels. We offer something for everyone, "Have-A-Go" days and training courses for beginners, a fine range for experienced archers. We compete as individuals in club and external events, our teams compete against other clubs in events such as the Sussex Albion League. Less competitive members just come along for the pleasure of shooting with friends, and we all enjoy our active social side.
