Peter Shilton OBE Charity Golf Classic 2002
Supported by Nautilus Health & Fitness Group UK Ltd
Essex Golf & Country Club, Earls Colne

8th/9th September

The 5th charity golf classic took place last weekend and was once again a great success… even the torrential rain was not enough to stop golfers raising money for a very important cause.

Hosted by the most capped England goalkeeper- Peter Shilton OBE- over 50 golfers raised a staggering £13,000 at the event for Disability Sport England.

This time we also had a new sponsor- Nautilus Health & Fitness Group UK Ltd. Their corporate team did not win a team trophy for the nine holes they did manage to complete without being stuck in a course flood. However, their Managing Director, Andy Dick, came away with a first team trophy as part of the DSE team.

It all began on Sunday night, with an entertaining evening and dinner held in the Essex’s function suite. With an impressionist and band to keep the guests entertained, everyone was in happy spirits. They did not have far to go to bed as we accommodated them in the hotel on site.

On Monday morning, the golfers were up early for what was anticipated being a fabulous day of golf competition. However, by half-way it was becoming obvious that the rain had to stop play.

They were brought in for a luxury buffet and a prize-giving ceremony. The awards went as follows.

1st Team-  DSE VIP team
Peter Shilton, Andy Dick, Dave Curtis, Duncan Jenner
2nd Team- PJ Scaffolding
Jonathan Greer, Ryan Greer, Craig Payne, Hayden McKenzie
3rd Team-BBC Team
