Member NewsDSE - SportsNational Boccia Championships 2002By Jannine Butler, National Events Manager
National Boccia Championships The continuing development and popularity of Boccia as a sport for people with disabilities was re-enforced again this weekend with over 100 players attending our National Boccia Championships from all over England and Wales. The Championship is the culmination of qualifications at regional levels, combining both junior and senior competitors. As Boccia is a Paralympic Sport this event is helping to further the development of our British Champions of the future. For the second year in a row the Championships was held at the Greenbank Sports Academy, Liverpool. The Academy was built in 1999 to offer an inclusive sports facility where participation barriers are minimised. This philosophy extends throughout the centre - from building design to the availability of specialist equipment such as sports wheelchairs.
