SSSprint race meeting proposed for 19th September at Gurston

10th September 2004
by Ding Boston

I am very sad and disappointed to have to announce that the farmer has rung me to say that due to unexpected 'game bird' related issues, he cannot allow us to use the Hill for the next meeting on the 19th September, and furthermore, that Gurston is not available for any further SSSprint meetings until early next year.

This is obviously a real setback, and I have spent the last two days since he rang quartering the hills around Oxford for an alternative venue.

I will keep on looking, but if anyone has a suggestion, or a lead that I might follow up, please let me know.

It's made that much worse due not only to the fact that there are many racers and Taster Days who wanted to come on the 19th, but also that the BBC is screening the Eddie The Eagle film this coming Monday at 7.30pm on BBC 1, accompanied by a good deal of supporting media publicity. It will be a shame if any new interest that this, and the newly reinvigorated SSSprint website generates has to be put off until the New Year.

I apologise for all this, but hope that all SSSprint subscribers and competitors will understand that this unhappy situation is something that I have very little control over.
